New
for 2009!
Four new One Cent (Penny) designs to commemorate the bicentennial of Abraham
Lincoln's birth.
The coins illustrate the life of Lincoln, from his humble beginnings in
Kentucky, through his formative
years as a rail splitter in Indiana. Lincoln's political life is represented by
Lincoln gesturing toward
the Illinois state house. The last design depicts the Capitol building, with its
dome under construction
at the time of Lincoln's presidential inauguration.
Coins and Bears will
be offering colorized versions of these uncirculated Lincoln Pennies.
The U.S.
Mint will release the first in the series, Birth and Early Childhood, in February of
2009.
